Connecticut

Carlos Flores

Northeast Connecticut

Carlos Flores is a first-generation hunter and retriever trainer who was born and raised in Boston, MA. Now based out of Northeast Connecticut (Brooklyn), Carlos is passionate about training his Labrador Addie to compete in Hunt Test and be a do it all bird dog. Having grown up an avid athlete, he’s since brought his competitive spirit to working with his retriever and others so everyone can accomplish their personal goals.

Additionally, his passion for dogs brought him out of a successful career in Finance, to now professionally training hunting dogs, and obedience for pet owners. Over the last 3 years his passion has become waterfowl and upland hunting, as well as hunt test and field trial training. In a short time, he’s worked with and had the opportunity to learn from many successful retriever and bird dog trainers that have continued to pique his interest and push him to be another resource for current hunters, and new hunters alike.

Being someone who is consistently trying to meet new people and learn what their passions are, Carlos will certainly make you feel welcome in the Northeast S.T.R.I.K.E Team and more likely than not, you’ll have a new friend. This team will primarily train in Northeast Connecticut, as well as have opportunities to train around Greater Boston as well

Greg Sagorski

Atlanta Area

Born and raised in Michigan, Greg caught the hunting bug at a very young age and has not looked back.  In 2007, Greg got his first lab and jumped into the upland and waterfowl arena with both feet. Since that time, Greg and his bride moved to Atlanta GA and currently have 3 labs. While he still loves big game hunting, with the help of River Stone Kennels and Retriever Roadmap, waterfowl hunting and dog training has taken the front seat.

Like many of the STRIKE TEAM leaders, Greg shares a passion for the outdoors, training dogs, having fun, and helping others.

Greg is married to his beautiful bride Lianne and they currently have 3 Labs.  Cayenne (chocolate), Blaze (black), and Ember (yellow).

Scott Ferguson

Altoona, IA

I started hunting at an early age with my dad. We chased pheasant and quail on family farm ground in Central Nebraska with our Springer Spaniel. Got into waterfowl hunting later in high school with family friends and have been hooked ever since. Have had labs now for the past 20+ years and love everything they bring to the hunting experience. Would not do it without the dogs. Watching them work, and do the thing they love most, is what hunting is all about for me.

Emory Lieber

Chestertown, MD

I grew up in Kent County, MD and started hunting when I was 7 years old. Growing up in a small town on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay, we were blowing goose calls at elementary school recess and hunting every chance we could. I fell in love with it and had the chance to see some amazing work from great dogs while growing up.  Last year I got my first pup (Daisy Mae) and was led to RR by good friends and just finished our first season together.

We're looking forward to trying our hands at hunt tests this year and preparing for the next season.

Devin Bloom

Kalamazoo, MI

I grew up on a lake in the prairie pothole region of South Dakota chasing pheasants, prairie grouse, ducks, and geese with my family’s springer spaniel, a dog I “trained” at the ripe at of 11. Starting at this early age I was fascinated by all types of hunting dogs, a theme that remains true today.

My childhood spent living the rural lake life established a baseline that hunting, fishing, sailing, biking, canoeing, and generally recreating and exploring the natural world in any manner possible was the norm. Today I living in Kalamazoo, Michigan where I am an ichthyologist (fish biologist), evolutionary ecologist, and professor at Western Michigan University. I spend most of my free time mountain/road/gravel biking, fly fishing, and training my dog, Little Annie (Riverstone’s Brock x Sammy).

Beau Wilson

Pemberton, NJ

I’m a part owner of KSB TeleSound, a leading provider of business communication, commercial audio, network infrastructure and cctv systems.

Currently training my second lab Wilder (Clyde x Willow). My first lab Lindy is retired. Ran my first hunt tests last year with Wilder. He earned his AKC Junior Hunter title and got 3 HRC Started passes. This year we plan on running senior - seasoned tests along with an AKC field trial derby.

I’m  primarily a waterfowl hunter, hunting all over NJ from a Barnegat Bay Sneakbox with Wilder. Aside from hunting I also try my best to emulate Bret Ayers and Rob Snell shooting pictures of the hunts, dogs working and waterfowl.

New York

Sarah Pyne

Finger Lakes, NY

My father, an avid bird hunter, meant that I grew up in a house full of dogs. He showed me the joys of dog training, especially with British labs. However, most of my animal training experience has been with horses- competitively showing both Eventing and Dressage. I found that the emphasis on reading the animal translates exceptionally well with both species. I have one older dog and a young River Stone dog, Salem (Strike x Daphne). We are training primarily for hunt tests, and some hunting - both upland and waterfowl.

I currently live in the Finger Lakes region of New York while my fiancé attends Cornell’s Veterinary School. In addition to the horses and the dogs, we have a growing collection of 4 legged rescues.

Ryan Williams

Nashville, Tennessee

I was born and raised in Middle Tennessee. Although I moved away for several years, i ended back home a few years ago. I’m a first generation hunter. I started after college and quickly found a passion. I have always been an animal lover. I got my first lab, Misty, in college. Although she was not a gun dog, she was loved by all and went everywhere with me. As the “dog guy” of my friends, it was no surprise that I soon decided to get another lab with the express goal of training her to be a working gun dog. Like many in the retriever roadmap community, I had no idea what I was doing in the beginning and made many mistakes. I started with the old classic book “Water Dog” and moved onto other various books for the first 2 years of Sky’s life. Despite my lacking, Sky progressed wonderfully and showed great potential. More potential than I knew how to unlock. Fortunately I stumbled onto the Duk Dogs podcast during a long road trip to northern Minnesota that culminated in Sky finding, flushing, and retrieving her (and my) first Grouse. Josh’s approach on Duk Dogs immediately resonated with me. Lots of windshield time equated to binging many episodes of the podcast. I knew I wanted a dog from Riverstone—coming summer 2025. I signed up for Retreiver Roadmap and attended the Pheasant Ranch STRIKE Force event. Although uncertain and intimidated, I immediately felt welcomed. The event was exactly what we needed and provided lots of helpful advice and confidence building. Can’t wait to continue to learn and train with this great community!

Jon Hoeft

Waupaca, WI

Jon grew up hunting and fishing the Door County peninsula and north woods of Wisconsin. He graduated from the University of Minnesota and is a global engineer in the apparel industry.  While living in Minnesota, he and his wife Mel fulfilled their dream and found their first bird hunting buddy, an English Springer Spaniel.  Piper is an extremely spirited and vocal pup, but when she's in her element, she's a beast.  Five years later, they added River Stone's Cinder-fella to the family and created a dynamic team for chasing pheasants and collecting waterfowl. Jon loves the connections he has made through hunting and training dogs and the camaraderie these activities bring to his life.
